Bacon Wrapped Sausages

By: Michael Riecica

Ingredients

  • 1 16 oz. package of little smokies (or small cooked sausages)
  • 1  lb. (15 slices) bacon, each slice cut into 3 smaller sections
  • 1 ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground mustard
  • 1 package (40-50) toothpicks

It’s bacon and sugar… so everyone seems to love them. They’re relatively easy and just a little messy. Pepper could be added to the blend, and 1/4 cup bourbon could be drizzled over the top for a little kick.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2

Insert a sheet of aluminum foil in a 9 x 13 x 2 glass pan. Coat with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 3

Individually wrap each sausage with a slice of cut bacon. Secure with a toothpick.

Step 4

Combine brown sugar and ground mustard into a resealable plastic bag and shake to combine.

Step 5

Add 4-5 sausages in the bag to coat.

Step 6

Remove and place each wrapped and coated sausage in the glass pan. Repeat until all are covered.

Step 7

Place in oven and bake 45-60 minutes, or until bacon is cooked to desired crispiness.
