Poached Eggs

My kids and I do not like the crispy edges on easy-over eggs, so eggs are poached in my house. Avoid the frying pan mess too!

Poached Eggs

By: Corina Reymer

Ingredients

  • 5 eggs
  • Silicone spatula
  • Salt & Pepper

Expert Tip!
For a Huevos Rancheros twist, put poached egg on a tortilla with salsa, grated sharp cheddar cheese and fresh cilantro!

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Pull out your smallest frying pan (7 inch diameter) and fill with 3/4 inch of water.

Step 2

Set your stove burner heat to medium. When you start seeing the smallest bubbles form at the bottom of the pan, turn it down to Medium-Low heat. Your water should not simmer nor boil at this point.

Step 3

Drop 5 eggs into the water from just above the water (the higher you drop them from, the more likely the yoke will break or the eggwhite will spread out. Simmer.

Step 4

After a couple of minutes, use your silicone spatula to reach under each egg gently to eliminate any sticking to the pan. Do not flip the egg.

Step 5

Cook until the egg yolks appear fully cooked. Gently drain the water and serve. Season to taste with salt and pepper or even add a bit of paprika.
