Hot Cajun Shrimp Dip

You will be the star of the party with this holiday family favorite potluck tradition since everyone loves this spicy dip. It doesn’t make a whole lot, so I would double it for large functions.

By: Debby Penkwitz

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, cubed

  • 8 green onions, thinly sliced on diagonal

  • 1 small green pepper, finely chopped

  • 1  lb. cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined (61-70 per bag)

  • 1   4 oz. jar of chopped pimentos

  • 2  garlic cloves, minced

  • 2  tsp. creole seasoning

  • 1  pkg. cream cheese, cubed

  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

  • French Bread Baguettes for serving

Spruce this recipe up for the holidays by substituting red pepper instead of green.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

In a Dutch oven, melt cubed butter over medium heat.

Step 2

Add green onions and green pepper; cook and stir until tender, 3 to 4 minutes.  Add the shrimp, pimentos, garlic and Creole seasoning.

Step 3

Cook and stir until heated through.  Stir in cream cheese until melted. Transfer to a clean serving dish.

Sprinkle with a fair amount of fresh parsley.

Serve with a plate of baguette slices.
