ROK Style Chili

Rockwell Automation’s large USA campuses in Milwaukee, WI and Mayfield Heights, OH have something in common. This recipe mimics famous chili from each of those general locations – Milwaukee being Real Chili and Ohio being Skyline Chili.

ROK Style Chili

Ingredients

  • 5 cups water
  • 1 1/4 lb. ground beef
  • 6 oz. can of tomato paste
  • 1 package spaghetti noodles
  • 1/2 – 3/4 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • (optional) 1 package of shredded cheddar cheese
  • (optional) 1 onion (chopped/diced)
  • (optional) 1 oyster crackers

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Add 5 cups of water, tomato paste, and chocolate to a large pot and heat/stir until mixed/melted well (3-5 min).

Step 2

Stir in chili powder, cinnamon, garlic powder, cumin, cloves, black pepper, salt, sugar, and apple cider vinegar.

Step 3

Add ground beef and use masher or whisk to break up meat and stir into sauce.

Step 4

Increase heat to boil then let cook at medium low boil for 1-2 hours with occasional stirring.

Step 5

Boil spaghetti noodles in separate pot until cooked to liking.

Step 6

Plate noodles and top with chili.

Step 7

Optional add on the fixings – cheddar cheese, onions, oyster crackers.
