Snickerdoodles
These yummy cookies are nothing to snicker about – they will disappear right out of the oven. Definitely a family fave and a part of holiday gift bags to friends!

Snickerdoodles

Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening, margarine or butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
- 2 Tbsp. cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
In mixing bowl, beat together the shortening, margarine or butter, with 1 1/2 cups sugar and eggs until thoroughly combined.
Step 2
In separate bowl, sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt (if desired). Stir into the shortening mixture until the dough is formed.
Step 3
Chill dough in refrigerator for about 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Step 4
Roll dough into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll into mixture of 2 tbsp of sugar and 2 tbsp of cinnamon.
Step 5
Place about 2″ apart on ungreased baking sheet and bake in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 6
Remove from oven and let cookies sit for a moment or two before removing to cool.
